MopeninuJesu Oluyinka graduated Summa cum laude from Morgan State University in December 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. During her tenure at Morgan State University, MopeninuJesu participated in a variety of research opportunities. She conducted neuroscience research at Morgan State University under the supervision of Dr. Gloria Hoffman, molecular modeling research of cancer drug oxaliplatin under the supervision of Dr. Roosevelt Shaw at Morgan State University, and neuroscience research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine: Department of Pharmacology under the supervision of Margaret McCarthy. She is still affiliated with Morgan State University and acts as one of the “Lead Mentors” for the school’s Pear B.E.A.R.S mentorship program.
After graduating, MopeninuJesu worked under the supervision of Christopher Umbricht, M.D., PhD. annotating an integrated breast cancer database and as a community health worker with JHU-CFAR: Generation Tomorrow. This program focuses on HIV and HCV testing, counseling, and education in Baltimore. Her host site for this program is the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics under the Special Teens at Risk, Together Reaching Access, Care, and Knowledge (STAR TRACK) Adolescent Health program.
MopeninuJesu currently works as a Research Assistant and Program Coordinator for the Johns Hopkins Bayview Tobacco Treatment Clinic and volunteers with Johns Hopkins Bayview: Medicine for the Greater Good (MGG) under the supervision of Panagis Galiatsatos, M.D., MHS. Medicine for the Greater Good seeks to promote health and wellness within the community through interactive partnerships with community and community organizations, while creating health-care citizens by teaching these health care professionals about the social determinants of health and how to combat them to promote community wellness.
