Shannon (Hines) Jones has been with Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic States for 20 years and held several roles within the Human Resources, Health Education, and Population Health functional areas. Currently, she leads the regional Equity, Inclusion and Diversity portfolio to execute on key priorities, including linguistic services, workforce equity, cultural competence, and regulatory and accreditation reporting in which the program has achieved distinction by NCQA in Multicultural Health Care. In addition, she directs employee well-being programs for the 8,000+ Health Plan staff in the Mid-Atlantic States region which have achieved Gold Level Status through the Healthiest Maryland Businesses program for two consecutive years. Previously, she directed the Regional Health Education, Health Promotion, and Women’s Health team and led the development and implementation of programs to improve member engagement, lifestyle behaviors, and health outcomes.
Shannon holds a MS degree from American University, and BS degree from Howard University, and is currently pursuing certification as a diversity coach through Coach Diversity Institute. Shannon lives in Prince George’s County Maryland with her husband, children, dogs, and cat. She serves on her church's Leadership Board and is engaged in community volunteerism to support empowerment of girls and women of color.
In her term as the Education and Student Liaison Co-Chair, she hopes to maintain existing and build new relationships with organizations that support healthcare career-building opportunities for students. She expects to leverage what’s working well and established best practices with the current student internship program and using feedback from students, organizations, mentors, and other key stakeholders, recommend and implement opportunities to strengthen the program’s reach and impact. She also hopes to contribute to the Chapter’s membership growth, visibility, and brand within the Baltimore area.
